In California, felony domestic violence, drugging and raping an unconscious person, human trafficking of a child, and assault with a deadly weapon are NOT classified as “violent” crimes.

As your Attorney General, I will:

  • Tackle rising violent crime by aggressively prosecuting violent criminals
  • Classify violent crimes exactly as they are: Violent Crimes
  • Advocate for changing CA law to classify violent crimes appropriately
  • End “Zero Bail” policies

Under current California law, human trafficking of a child, felony domestic violence, drugging and raping an unconscious person, and assault with a deadly weapon are NOT classified as “violent” crimes.

As a career prosecutor, and as a woman, I find this despicable.

Today, if a perpetrator commits any of these crimes, they are eligible for EARLY RELEASE from prison sentences because they are considered  “non-violent” under California law.

In most cases, if a crime is classified as “violent,” the perpetrator will serve longer sentences without getting out after only a short period of a court ordered sentence.

As the next Attorney General, I will aggressively advocate to change the laws, so that we classify those crimes exactly as they are:  Violent Crimes.

Tackle rising violent crime by aggressively prosecuting violent criminals
