As your Attorney General, I will:

Leverage forensic innovation to both identify the guilty and exonerate the innocent
Make sure law enforcement has access to the most advanced forensic tools and is engaged in the most innovative work.
Ensure prosecutors and investigators have access to the most advanced forensic laboratories in the world.

I've been in this business for 31 years. My first DNA case was almost 28 years ago.

I understand and value forensic evidence as the greatest tool ever given to law enforcement. Forensics allows us to find the truth, no matter where it leads us.

For instance, it was forensic innovation that allowed us to identify the Golden State Killer, leading to the prosecution of one of California’s worst serial killers of all time. Without forensic innovation, this sadistic killer would never have been caught, prosecuted and sentenced to life in prison.

As the Attorney General overseeing the Department of Justice Crime Laboratories throughout California, I will make sure law enforcement has access to the most advanced forensic tools, and engaged in the most innovative work.

The sooner we have access to advanced forensic tools, the faster we're able to get the results, and the quicker we are able to identify criminals, exonerate the innocent and prevent future crimes.
