We must combat the fentanyl epidemic in our state through serious enforcement.

As your Attorney General, I will:

Proactively investigate and prosecute drug dealers who are poisoning and killing our citizens with dangerous and illicit drugs, including fentanyl
Lead a statewide task force to address the fentanyl crisis in California through effective enforcement and prevention efforts
Amend California laws to enhance penalties for fentanyl dealers who poison our citizens
Lead the state in establishing addiction and mental health treatment centers throughout California

California streets are being flooded with a health threat sometimes more deadly than COVID-19: the drug epidemic.

In San Francisco, drugs killed 712 city residents in 2020 — nearly triple the amount of people who lost their lives to COVID-19.

As your Attorney General, there will be two ways to address this crisis on a statewide level.

Prevention: First, we must address the reasons why people are choosing drugs. Then, we can proactively connect those individuals with the services they need, like mental health or outreach, in order to prevent their dependency on drugs.
Prosecution: We must also aggressively investigate and prosecute people who choose to deal drugs that contain fentanyl. That means that we must enhance penalties, hold them accountable for not only selling drugs, but also being the cause of thousands of deaths.
